The set for sale here has no rust, but it does have rubbing to the finish on the backs and some areas of scuffing to the paint, notably on the golfer, the sun, and a couple of spots on the gold frame (see photos). Kuritzky and De Costa's Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends, published in 2006, lists this set on page 321 (plates 22), rating the painted set as rare and valuing it at $275, and rating the unpainted set as rare and valuing it at $175. Marked "Copyright 1928/Connecticut Foundry Co." at the bottom of each bookend (see photo). The stores website stated that entry to the signing would be predicated on the purchase of a book prior to the signing, then bringing the book and receipt to the store at the time of the signing.
